The 100th :) or TEDxKyiv

That's my 100th post :) thus I wanted to write about something really special. So, here we go. 

We had a great opportunity to attend a really extraordinary conference last week – TEDxKyiv “Entrepreneurship”. My very first post at Green Forest blog was actually dedicated to TED (TED – „ідеї варті поширення”). TED, which stands for Technology Entertainment and Design, is a global set of conferences held annually which promote brand new ideas and ground-breaking technologies. Besides these central conferences, TEDx conferences are becoming more and more popular. TEDx is an independently organized event in cities around the world. TED grants licenses to third parties to hold these events, however the rules of the franchise must be obeyed. In a nutshell, TEDx is a non-profit event organized by a group of enthusiasts who understand the meaning and value of TED and are ready to sacrifice their time and effort.

At the beginning of May we went to the theatre again. And I must say that we enjoyed this performance even more than the previous ones. It turns out to be better every time! 
This performance tells a story of two young people. They're around thirty and have their own issues. They get together, seem to be happy, but the past won't let go.

SWE. Lviv Hunt

Last week we were surviving in Lviv and it's not a random choice. It was the 755th anniversary of our city. We had a walking city tour and climbed the City Hall Tower. 

Lviv has always been a blend of various cultures and nationalities. In Medieval times it used to be like Babylon. We can still observe the traces of it in our city e.g. Serbska, Virmenska, Staroyevreyska streets. Lviv is the place of many inventions and achievements (gas lamp, railway, city theatre, the first printed book and newspaper, hotel etc). You can not describe it in one article. So, better watch!

Hi! We launched a new club at Green Forest in L'viv - "Surviving with English" - a series of outdoor classes which will help you to feel comfortable in an English speaking environment. Here is the video from one of them.

A nameless star

"A nameless star" a wonderful performance which tells the story of a young noble girl and a provincial astronomer. They get together just for one night as stars never change their tracks and never stop.

I really enjoyed the music, contemporary video and light effects. Besides, the technique of silhouettes was adding something special to the performance.

Залежність від TED виникла ще у 2009. А зараз вирішила долучитись до команди перекладачів-волонтерів та зробила свій перший переклад на українську інтерв'ю з одним із моїх улюблених бізнесменів Річардом Бренсоном!
Я уже писала про TED (TED– „ідеї варті поширення”) у 2009 році, коли власне дізналась про це неймовірне джерело натхнення та ресурс для удосконалення англійської мови. Минулого місяця вирішила доєднатись до команди перекладачів на TED — Open translation project та зробила перший переклад. Тепер хочу заохотити Вас до цього!
Ось як це працює. Спочатку потрібно зареєструватись на сайті TED у відповідному розділі.  Потім Ви обираєте промову, котру Ви б хотіли перекласти. Надсилаєте запит про переклад цієї промови на українську. Отримуєте лист із поясненням та лінками на відео промови та надзвичайно зручний інтерфейс для перекладу на  http://dotsub.com. Також Вам надішлють листа із запитаннями про рівень володіння англійською та українською мовами. Після з'ясування усіх моментів, надається 30 днів на виконання перекладу. Після цього, призначають рецензента (щоб пришвидшити процес, краще зв'язатись з кимось із уже діючих перекладачів), котрий проглядає переклад протягом наступних 14 днів. Далі переклад з'являється на сайті.

Тому, вирішила поділитись останніми досягненнями у цій галузі. По-перше, стаття про подакстинг у Wikipedia суттєво доповнена та розширена. Вчені одного із американських університетів зарпопонували чотирьохвекторне визначення “подкасту”. 
 

• Подкаст — це епізодичний цифровий аудіо або відео файл.
• Подкаст можна завантажити.
• Подкаст — це програма, що має ведучого та тему.
• Подкаст завантажується автоматично з допомогою програмного забезпечення.

Окрім цього, тепер у Wikipedia ви знайдете декілька статей, котрі більш широко описують явище подкастингу. Ось кілька найцікавіших з них:
